Mid-South Hydrangea Society – How to Make More: The Art and Science of Propagating Hydrangeas with Bryce Lane

October 14, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Join us on Monday evening, October 14, to meet and hear Bryce H. Lane, Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Professor Emeritus, Lecturer Emeritus with the Department of Horticultural Science, NC State University. Bryce’s presentation is “How to Make More: The Art and Science of Propagating Hydrangeas.”

Bryce grew up in Western Massachusetts, where he discovered his passion for plants and telling others about them, working at a local garden center through high school and college. After earning his BS in Plant Science from the University of Massachusetts in 1979 and an MS in Horticulture from Ohio State University in 1981, he came to the Department of Horticultural Science at NC State University as a Lecturer, teaching in both the two-year and four-year programs.Bryce hosted and produced a three-time, Emmy winning UNC TV public television show called “In the Garden With Bryce Lane”.  The show was on the air for 11 seasons. Though “In the Garden with Bryce Lane” is no longer in production, full episodes and clips of the show are available at:  http://video.unctv.org/show/garden/

Since retiring from NC State in 2014, Bryce is now spending more time with his family, pursuing the next chapter in his public speaking career, teaching part time at NC State and at the JC Raulston Arboretum.  Most importantly, he has been married for 39 years to his high school sweetheart, has two happily married daughters, and 6 incredible grandchildren.  He is an avid gardener who has gardened in the same spot for 35 years!
