You and I know the power of flowers to transform spaces, but how do we get the word out to our community? It’s easier than you think. Come discover 11 simple, engaging steps that will help transform our Memphis landscape one-garden at a time. Join us for this informational presentation by Kim Halyak.
After retiring from 34 years of teaching, Kim Halyak decided to pour herself into gardening, which she believes is the best antidote to life’s surprises. Kim was past president and co-founder of the Cooper Young Garden Club, which grew from 11 members to 37. In 2016, she co-founded the Cooper Young Garden Walk, a quirky, imaginative 2-day garden extravaganza that encompasses 85+ gardens, artist studios, businesses, community gardens and much community involvement. Her vision is to see it grow across Memphis and help make Memphis a garden tourist destination. Besides being a member of the Memphis Horticultural Society, Kim also belongs to the Kennedy View Garden Club, the Garden Writers of America, the garden bloggers fling, and is the TFGC District 1 Recording Secretary.
In her spare time, she and her husband, Bill, enjoy traveling throughout the US to ride bike rails to trails, discovering quirky gardens, and visiting their 2 children and 1st grandchild, Roman.
