Memphis Horticultural Society – The Prairie-Inspired Garden Ethic with Benjamin Vogt

March 3, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Benjamin Vogt lives in Lincoln, Nebraska where he owns Monarch Gardens, a prairie garden design firm. He speaks nationally on native plants, pollinators, sustainable (and ethical) garden design, and has a weekly column at Houzz.com that includes over 150 articles. Benjamin’s writing and photography have appeared in dozens of publications from Garden Design to Orion Magazine. You can learn more about Benjamin and his design work at: www.monarchgard.com

Benjamin is author of several books including A New Garden Ethic: Cultivating Defiant Compassion for an Uncertain Future.  His presentation, “The Prairie-Inspired Garden Ethic”, is based on this book and explores how to embrace gardens as places to create change benefiting all species. Through inspiring new research and beautiful images of wildlife and sustainable landscapes, you’ll be taken on a journey into gardening on a deeper level. In Benjamin’s view, gardening with native plants is an ethical and even moral imperative in a time of changing climate and extinction.
