October presentation by shade garden expert, Gene Bush, of Depauw, Indiana.
Drawing from over 30 years of gardening experience and 20 years in the nursery trade, he uses both native and non-native perennial shade and woodland plants to form what he calls a casual “Wild” style.
The concept for this program began as an article which appeared in the March/April issue of Fine Gardening Magazine. It has since been expanded to highlight both subtle, and not so subtle, combinations that bring out the best in each other and prove that there is no shortage of color for shade gardens.
According to Gene, he is first and foremost a gardener having fun in his garden. Past owner of Munchkin Nursery & Gardens, specializing in rare and unusual shade perennials, Gene now focuses on photography, writing, lecturing and consulting.
Gene has published articles in Fine Gardening Magazine, The American Gardener and Indiana Gardening Magazine. He has also written an ebook entitled Shade Garden Solutions: Eight Essential Problems Solved for Successful Shade Gardening, which is available from Amazon.com. You can find his wonderful photographs and insightful plant descriptions on Facebook and Pinterest or follow his weekly blog “Shade Solutions” at http://www.shadegardenexpert.com/blog/.
Social time and refreshments begin at 6:30 p.m. with the meeting following at 7:00 p.m.
